# MCP server

> Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex or VS Code to TalentReview. Sign in once, then work with jobs, applicants and CVs from the chat.

TalentReview runs two MCP servers, one for recruiters and one for candidates.
Each has its own URL and its own sign-in. Both use Streamable HTTP and OAuth 2.0:
your client opens a browser window, you sign in with your TalentReview account,
and that's it. There is no API key to copy, and API keys are not accepted.

| Server | Who it's for | URL |
| - | - | - |
| `trai-recruiter` | Recruiters and hiring teams | `https://mcp.talentreview.ai/mcp` |
| `trai-candidate` | Job seekers | `https://mcp.talentreview.ai/candidate/mcp` |

The setup steps below use the recruiter URL. For the candidate server, swap in
`https://mcp.talentreview.ai/candidate/mcp` and a different name, such as
`talentreview-candidate`.

## Connect your client

**Claude Code**

```bash theme={null}
claude mcp add --transport http talentreview https://mcp.talentreview.ai/mcp
```

Start Claude Code, type `/mcp`, pick `talentreview` and choose
**Authenticate**. Sign in in the browser window that opens.

**Claude / ChatGPT**

In Claude, open **Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector**. In
ChatGPT, add it as a connector under **Settings → Apps**. Paste
`https://mcp.talentreview.ai/mcp`, click **Connect** and sign in. Then turn
the connector on in a chat.

**Codex**

```bash theme={null}
codex mcp add talentreview --url https://mcp.talentreview.ai/mcp
codex mcp login talentreview
```

**Cursor**

Add this to `~/.cursor/mcp.json`, then open **Settings → MCP** and click
**Connect** next to `talentreview`.

```json theme={null}
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "talentreview": { "url": "https://mcp.talentreview.ai/mcp" }
  }
}
```

**VS Code**

```bash theme={null}
code --add-mcp '{"name":"talentreview","type":"http","url":"https://mcp.talentreview.ai/mcp"}'
```

Start the server from the MCP view and sign in.

**Other**

Any client that speaks Streamable HTTP and MCP auth works. It finds the
authorization server from the `WWW-Authenticate` header on the first 401.

* OAuth discovery: `https://mcp.talentreview.ai/.well-known/oauth-authorization-server`
* Protected resource metadata: `https://mcp.talentreview.ai/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/mcp`
* Manifest: [`/.well-known/mcp.json`](https://www.talentreview.ai/.well-known/mcp.json)

## Recruiter tools

| Area | Tool | What it does |
| - | - | - |
| Jobs | `list_jobs` | Your jobs with their status and stats. |
| | `get_job` | One job in full. |
| Applicants | `list_applicants` | Applicants to a job, newest first, with match scores. |
| | `get_applicant` | Contact details, notes, AI analysis and profile. |
| | `update_applicant` | Move an applicant to another stage, add a note, or both. |
| AI analysis | `analyse_applicant` | Score one applicant against the job: strengths, concerns and a recommendation. |
| | `analyse_all_applicants` | Score every applicant to a job in the background. Paid plans. |
| | `get_analysis_progress` | How far the latest bulk analysis has got. |
| | `get_allowances` | Analyses and talent searches left this month. |
| Talent search | `search_talent` | Find candidates from a plain-English brief. |
| | `invite_to_apply` | Email a candidate an invitation to one of your active jobs. |
| Files | `download_cv` | Link to an applicant's original CV or a PDF built from their resume. |
| | `export_applicants_csv` | Link to a CSV of a job's applicants. |
| Dashboard | `get_dashboard` | Totals, open roles, interviews and trends. |

A few things work the same as in the dashboard:

* Analyses and talent searches count against your plan's monthly allowance.
  Repeating the same search in the same month is free.
* When a bulk analysis would go over your allowance, the newest applicants are
  scored first and the rest are left out.
* Talent search never returns a candidate's email or phone. Use
  `invite_to_apply` instead.
* `download_cv` and `export_applicants_csv` return a link that works once and
  expires after 15 minutes. You can open it in a browser without signing in.

Things to try:

* "Who are the strongest applicants for the backend role?"
* "Score everyone who applied to the designer job."
* "Find senior Go engineers in Dubai who can join within a month."
* "Send me a spreadsheet of this week's applicants."

> [!NOTE]
>
> The old SSE endpoint, `https://mcp.talentreview.ai/sse`, has been retired. If
> your connector still uses it, remove it and add `https://mcp.talentreview.ai/mcp`.

## Candidate tools

The candidate server only sees the signed-in candidate's own CV. Every edit is
saved as a new version, so nothing is overwritten.

| Tool | What it does |
| - | - |
| `list_my_resumes` | Your CV types and every saved version, marking the active one. |
| `get_my_resume` | One CV version as structured JSON. Defaults to the active CV. |
| `update_my_resume` | Save an edited CV as a new version. Sections you leave out are copied unchanged. |
| `set_active_resume` | Make a saved version the active CV. |
| `download_my_resume_pdf` | Link to a CV version as a PDF. Works once and expires after 15 minutes. |

Things to try: "Read my CV and tighten the summary", or "Add my new job at
Acme and make it the active version".
